Met Commissioner appears before G20 policing inquiry

The Home Affairs Committee holds the third evidence session of its inquiry into the policing of the G20 protests at 10.30am, when it will hear evidence from Sir Paul Stephenson, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service.
Also giving evidence will be Commander Bob Broadhurst, "Gold Commander" of Operation Glencoe (Policing and Security of G20).
Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Committee, said:
"We look forward to hearing from the country's top policeman on the challenges that face the Metropolitan Police Service in the future, how he intends to tackle them and his vision for the future of the Metropolitan Police."
"We are also holding our final evidence session into the policing of the G20 Protests by taking evidence from Commander Bob Broadhurst to find out his opinion of the events of 1-2 April and discover exactly what happened in relation to policing on the day of the G20 protests. We will also be questioning Sir Paul Stephenson on his opinion of the policing operation and what action he will be taking in future in regards to policing protests."
