During Grand Committee (which takes place outside the Lords Chamber), line by line examination of the Bill takes place - as per the committee stage of a Bill in the Lords Chamber. Every amendment suggested is discussed and the Bill can be changed but voting does not take place.
The Government Bill will now return to the main Lords chamber for report stage - a further chance to amend the Bill - on a date yet to be scheduled.
The Bill makes some amendments to the regulation of party funding and election expenditure that is set out in the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.
