UK tourism: Lords debate

Lord Pendry (Labour) will open a debate calling attention to opportunities for the growth of the UK tourism industry and its greater contribution to all parts of the economy in a debate this Thursday, 14 May, in the House of Lords

Lord Carter of Barnes will speak on behalf of the Government.

Members scheduled to take part include:

  • Lord Davies of Coity (Labour); former Governor of Birmingham College of Tourism, Food and Creative Studies
  • Earl of Glasgow (Liberal Democrat); noted interest in tourism and owner of Kelburn Country Center country park and visitor attraction

  • Baroness Valentine (Crossbench); Chief Executive of London First
  • Lord Lee of Trafford (Liberal Democrat); spokesperson for tourism
  • Lord Howard of Rising (Conservative); spokesperson for Culture, Media and Sport
  • Lord Carter of Barnes (Labour); Parliamentary Under Secretary-of-State for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport
