Committee investigate bogus colleges

The Home Affairs Committee holds a one-off evidence session at 10.30 am to investigate the issue of 'bogus colleges' as a front to sell fraudulent visas
Giving evidence to the Committee at 10.30am will be Tony Millns, Chief Executive of the language teaching association English UK, and Nick Lewis of the Association of Colleges. Appearing before the Committee at approximately 11.15am will be Phil Woolas MP, Minister for Borders and Immigration.
Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Committee, said:
"The issue of “bogus colleges” has exposed serious flaws in the immigration system and the provision of visas.
"We are interested in hearing what action the Minister will take on this problem and his views on the success of the UK Border Agency in its role as a regulator of further or higher education institutions. We will also hear the views of representatives of legitimate higher and further education institutions on how this scandal affects them and find out how they work with UKBA in preventing bogus colleges."
