Coroners and Justice Bill: committee stage

Members of the Lords continued the line by line examination of the Coroners and Justice Bill on 23 June
Amendments (proposals for change) discussed included clauses (parts) 16-32 of the Bill which covered post-mortem examinations, powers of senior coroners, inspection of the coroner system and more.

During committee stage every suggested change to the Bill can be discussed and every clause of the Bill has to be agreed to. Any Member of the Lords can take part and votes can happen.
A fourth day of committee stage deliberation takes place on 30 June.
The Government Bill would change the law on a range of issues - from the use of juries in inquests to inciting hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation.
