Lord Coe introduced a debate in the House of Lords on 18 June about the progress being made towards the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London

Members who have worked in a number of Olympic and sport organisations and trusts, Olympic medallists and more contributed to a wide ranging discussion which covered the infrastructure and facilities, Olympic events and venues, and the impact of the Olympic Games on the lives of young people.

In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern. A minister responds on behalf of the Government.
