MPs gave a second reading to the Marine and Coastal Access Bill which has already been through the House of Lords.

The Bill makes a number of proposals over a broad range of marine issues including:
- setting up a new marine management organisation
- streamlining the existing marine licensing system
- new measures to reform fisheries management
- a framework for establishing marine conservation zones
- the creation of a walkable route around the English coast
