Marine and Coastal Access Bill: second reading

MPs gave a second reading to the Marine and Coastal Access Bill which has already been through the House of Lords.

The Bill makes a number of proposals over a broad range of marine issues including:

  • setting up a new marine management organisation
  • streamlining the existing marine licensing system
  • new measures to reform fisheries management
  • a framework for establishing marine conservation zones
  • the creation of a walkable route around the English coast
