MPs debate Private Members’ Bills

The Commons debated several Private Members' Bills, starting with the third reading of the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies and Credit Unions Bill.

The Bill, which would reform the law governing industrial and provident societies, was given its third reading and will now go to the House of Lords. It is sponsored by Malcolm Wicks, Labour MP for Croydon North.
Two other bills were debated but neither received a second reading: the first because fewer than 40 MPs took part in the division; and the second because it ran out of time.
