The Commons debated Private Members' Bills on Friday 19 June, starting with the third reading of the Autism Bill.

The Autism Bill, which was given its third reading and will now go to the House of Lords, is sponsored by Cheryl Gillan, Conservative MP for Chesham and Amersham. It would require the Health Secretary to publish an adult autism strategy and to issue associated statutory guidance and would also place a duty on local authorities and NHS bodies to act under this guidance.

One other bill received its second reading: The Organ Donation (Presumed Consent) Bill which has been committed to a Public Bill Committee.

Two others did not receive a second reading; The Forces Widows' Pensions (Equality of Treatment) Bill which ran out of time, although the debate will be resumed on 16 October; and MPs 'objected' to The Theft from Shops (Use of Penalty Notices for Disorder) Bill, although another second reading debate has been scheduled for 3 July.
