Health Minister, Phil Hope, introduced a topical debate on carers in the House of Commons Chamber. It marked Carers' Week and looked at the progress made since the last year's Work and Pensions Select Committee report on valuing and supporting carers, and the Government's response.

Topical debates lasting 90 minutes take place in the Commons every week. They focus on issues of regional, national or international importance and were introduced following recommendations made by the Modernisation Committee in 2007.
