Members of the Lords began examining the Policing and Crime Bill - which would change the law on a range of issues including the accountability of the police, the laws on soliciting and more - on 22 June

Amendments (proposals for change) discussed covered clauses (parts) 1-12 of the Bill.

During committee stage every suggested change (amendment) to the Bill can be discussed and every clause (part) has to be agreed to. Any Member can take part and votes can happen.

The second day of committee stage on the Bill takes place on 1 July.
