Consideration of Commons amendments

The House of Lords considered Commons amendments to the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Bill and the Political Parties and Elections Bill on 20 July.
Outstanding issues on the Borders Bill were resolved and the Bill now awaits Royal Assent - the final stage of the Bill’s passage through Parliament when the Bill becomes an Act (law).
Outstanding issues on the Political Parties Bill were returned to the Commons for consideration and the Commons agreed to the Lords amendments. The Bill now awaits Royal Assent.

The Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Bill will amend the law on immigration, asylum and nationality.
The Political Parties and Elections Bill makes some amendments to the regulation of party funding and election expenditure, as well as other issues.
