Foreign Office Minister, Chris Bryant, introduced a debate in Westminister Hall on the European Commission's Annual Policy Strategy for 2010

The Commission's annual policy strategy forms the basis of a consultation with the other EU institutions on where the policy priorities should lie, and prepares the way for the Commission's legislative and work programme which is published in the autumn.

Westminster Hall adjournment debates allow MPs to consider issues of local or personal interest which rarely have time to be debated in the main Chamber of the House of Commons. MPs can discuss a variety of issues and receive a response from a government Minister. On Thursdays, the sitting consists of a single debate, either on a topic chosen by the Government - as on this occasion - or on a report from a select committee.
