Lord Myners, Financial Services Secretary, gives evidence to the House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs, and International Trade, at 10.35am.

Also giving evidence will be Clive Maxwell, Director of Financial Stability, HM Treasury.

As part of its scrutiny of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFM Directive), the Committee will question Lord Myners about his views on subjects including:

  • Whether AIFMs should be regulated at an EU level
  • The passport system established by the Directive
  • Provisions to distinguish between different types of funds and suggestions that the Directive discriminates against private equity funds
  • The impact that the AIFM Directive might have on business and the thresholds of exemption from the Directive
