The Bill's provisions include:
- Giving a new duty to the Border Agency to safeguard the welfare of children
- Transferring some functions from HM Revenue and Customs to the Border Agency
- Amending provisions of the British Nationality Act 1981
- Changing the way some immigration and nationality cases are heard.
