Work of the Home Office scrutinised

Alan Johnson MP, Home Secretary, answers questions about the work of the Home Office, including ID Cards, knife crime, human trafficking and the policing of protests in this one-off evidence session from 3pm.
Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Committee, said:
"We are delighted to have this early opportunity to take evidence from the new Home Secretary on how he intends to tackle entrenched problems at the Home Office. We will explore pressing issues such as police efficiency savings, the e-borders programme and ID Cards; and seek answers as to how he will implement our recent recommendations in the areas of knife crime, human trafficking, policing of protests and forced marriage.
"Following the revelation of phone tapping by journalists, the Committee will be looking to question the Home Secretary on any plans he has to take further action. We will also be keen to hear his view on the extradition of the British hacker Gary McKinnon."
