7 September 2009 (updated on 22 April 2010)
Over 80 people attended a lecture about the Suffragettes at Essex Records Office on 1 September 2009. The lecture was given by Mari Takayanagi, Archivist at Parliamentary Archives, as part of the Breaking Barriers adult education programme developed by Parliamentary Outreach.
As well as talking about the Suffragettes and Suffragists, Mari talked about the collections at Parliamentary Archives and how they are accessible to all. The people who attended were members of the Essex History Group who meet monthly to listen to lectures on a variety of subjects relating to history.
