Alcohol inquiry hears from supermarkets and Premier League

The Health Committee inquiry into alcohol continues with evidence from supermarkets ASDA, Sainsbury's and Waitrose from 10.00 am. The Committee will then question representatives from the Premier League and the Football League from approximately 11.30 am

The alcohol inquiry is looking at the following areas:

  • the scale of ill-health related to alcohol misuse
  • the consequences for the NHS
  • central government policy
  • the role of the NHS and other bodies including local government, the voluntary sector, police, the alcohol industry, and those responsible for the advertising and promotion of alcohol
  • solutions, including whether the drinking culture in England should change, and if so, how
