Cocaine trade inquiry continues

The Home Affairs Committee hears evidence at 10.30am from drugs experts, including the medical director of the Priory Hospital, as part of its continuing inquiry into the cocaine trade

The session will cover the debate on drug regularisation, the attractions of drug taking, the impact of addiction on family and friends, and the options for rehabilitation.

The witnesses are as follows:

  • Paul Hayes: chief executive, National Treatment Agency for Substance Abuse
  • John Jolly: chief executive, Blenheim Community Drug Programme
  • Dr Neil Brener: medical director and addictions specialist, The Priory Clinic

At approximately 11.15 am

  • Professor David Nutt: chairman, Advisory Council for the Misuse of Drug
  • Dr Fiona Measham: senior lecturer in criminology, Lancaster University
