Committee hears from former Downing Street special advisors

The House of Lords Constitution Committee will hear evidence from Baroness Hogg, former Head of the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit and Jonathan Hill, former Head of the Prime Minister’s Political Office, from 11am. Both served in No.10 during John Major’s time as Prime Minister.
The evidence session is part of the Constitution Committee’s ongoing inquiry into the Cabinet Office and the Centre of Government.
The witnesses will be asked about the relationship between political special advisors and Cabinet Office civil servants, the role of the Cabinet Secretary, and how the role and influence of the Prime Minister’s Office at Number 10 has increased.
