Members of the Lords began the report stage of the Coroners and Justice Bill on 21 October

Amendments (proposals for change) discussed included clauses (parts) 1-14 of the Bill on subjects covering use of intercept evidence and inquests with juries.

Three votes (divisions) on amendments to the Bill took place, with the Government losing a vote on the use of secret inquiries.

Further line by line examination of the Bill takes place during report stage and allows Members of the Lords to revisit issues discussed previously. All suggested changes to the Bill can be discussed and votes can take place.

A second day of report stage takes place on 26 October.
