Decent homes inquiry takes evidence in Stockport

The Communities and Local Government Committee hears evidence in Stockport from public and private landlords' associations as part of its 'Beyond Decent Homes' inquiry.
The session starts at 2.30pm in the Council Chamber of Stockport Town Hall.

The Committee is investigating what steps the Government needs to take to ensure that decent housing standards are met and sustained after 2010, the date by which the latter had committed itself to bringing all social housing up to a decent standard .
The Government then broadened this target to include private sector homes occupied by vulnerable households and, in July 2009, published a consultation paper on its plans to reform council housing finance, including proposals to complete the decent homes programme and maintain the standard.
