The House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs will hear evidence at 10.35am from the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the Wellcome Trust as part of its inquiry into the proposed EU Directive on Alternative Investment Fund Managers.

Dan Waters, Director of Conduct Risk and Asset Management Sector Leader at the FSA, will be asked about the Directive’s proposals for regulating fund managers as well as the idea of reducing systemic risk through controls on the use of leverage.

The Committee will also speak to the Chief Investment Officer of the Wellcome Trust, Danny Truell, to find out more about the role of Alternative Investment Funds for investors and what some of the unintended consequences of the Directive on investors might be.
