Local Democracy Bill: Commons amendments

Members of the Lords considered Commons amendments to the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Bill on 9 November
Amendments on outstanding issues including local freedoms, powers given to local authorities in relation to mutual insurance and construction contracts were discussed and resolved.
The Bill now awaits Royal Assent - the final stage of the Bill's passage through Parliament when it becomes an Act (law).

Royal Assent
When a Bill has completed all its parliamentary stages in both Houses, it must have Royal Assent before it can become an Act of Parliament (law).
Royal Assent is the Monarch's agreement to make the Bill into an Act and is a formality.
