Lords Committee hears from Bank of England Governor

Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England, gives evidence on the current economic outlook to the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee at 3.35pm.

The Committee will question Mr King on the Bank’s forecasts for economic growth over the next 2 years, the potential impact of the burgeoning fiscal deficit on the UK economy, the effectiveness of the policy of quantitative easing and differences between the Bank of England and Financial Services Agency’s approach to the regulation of financial services.

Mr King will be joined in giving evidence by Paul Tucker, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England; Paul Fisher, Executive Director and Andrew Sentance, external member of the Monetary Policy Committee.

Also giving evidence to the Lords Economic Affairs Committee will be Sir John Bourn, former Comptroller and Auditor General at the National Audit Office. He will be giving evidence as part of the Committee’s inquiry into Private Finance Projects and Off-Balance Sheet Debt. This evidence session will start at 4.30pm.
