The following Private Notice Question (urgent question) on the dismissal of Professor Nutt, the Chair of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, was asked in the House of Lords Chamber after Oral Questions on 2 November:

"To ask Her Majesty’s Government what steps they are taking to ensure that members of government scientific advisory committees can freely communicate to the Government and the public their conclusions about scientific evidence."

Lord Brett responded on behalf of the Government.

Private Notice Questions allow Members of the Lords to ask the Government an urgent question in the House of Lords Chamber. Proceedings are limited to 10 minutes so contributions are expected to be short.
