Work of the UK Border Agency evidence session

The Home Affairs Committee questions the Immigration Minister, Phil Woolas, and Lin Homer, Chief Executive of the UK Border Agency (UKBA). This is one of the Committee’s regular evidence sessions on the work of UKBA. Watch live from 10.30 am

- Lin Homer, Chief Executive, UK Border Agency
The session will concentrate in particular on following-up issues raised in the Chief Executive’s latest letter on progress in dealing with historic problems in the UKBA.
Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Committee, said:
"The Committee is extremely concerned to hear that the UK Border Agency has discovered 40,000 cases of immigrants who have disappeared without record in the UK. We also wish to see what action the Government is taking to crack down on bogus colleges flouting UK immigration law. And we want to know how the UKBA is processing the backlog in genuine student applications which has built up as a result of problems with UKBA implementing Tier 4 of the Points-Based System."
