Members of the House of Lords discussed the Royal Society's report 'Reaping the Benefits' and the contribution of UK agriculture to the global economy on 10 December.

Experts in agriculture and farming discussed subjects including GM crops, sustainable farming, harnessing technology to improve overseas productivity and practical transfer of knowledge to farmers and the need for increasing UK skill levels.

In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern. A minister responds on behalf of the Government.
