Members of the House of Lords will discuss the Science and Technology Committee report ‘Pandemic Influenza: Follow Up’ in a debate on Monday 7 December, in the House of Lords

Chairman of the Committee, Lord Sutherland, will introduce the debate which follows the committee’s follow up inquiry into Pandemic Influenza.

The inquiry began in November 2008, before the emergence of swine flu and evolved when the new pandemic became apparent. The report contained criticism of the Government’s preparations for the pandemic - such as the delay in the operation of the National Pandemic Flu Service and the fact that the process of “whole system” testing was not carried out earlier.

The debate will include contributions from the following Members of the House:

  • Lord Colwyn
  • Lord Crickhowell
  • Earl Howe
  • Lord Jenkin of Roding
  • Baroness Tonge

Lord Tunnicliffe will respond on behalf of the Government.

The House will sit at 2.30pm and the debate is likely to start at approximately 4pm.
