UK economy and language: Lords debate

Baroness Coussins (Crossbench) will open the debate. Members scheduled to take part include:

• Lord Wright of Richmond (Crossbench), former head of the Diplomatic Service.
• Lord Dykes (Liberal Democrat), former MEP and financial consultant who can speak several European languages.
• Viscount Montgomery of Alamein (Crossbench), a former company director who has served as a patron and chairman of various Anglo-Latin American organisations, including the Anglo-Argentine Society and Canning House.
• Lord Selsdon (Conservative), who has held senior positions in several European companies and is former president of the British Exporters’ Association.
• Lord Broers (Crossbench), former president of the Royal Academy of Engineering and former vice-chancellor of Cambridge University.
• Lord Watson of Richmond (Liberal Democrats), international chairman emeritus of the English Speaking Union, who holds a range of visiting and honorary posts at universities in Britain and abroad.

Other Members scheduled to speak include Baroness Verma, Lord Woolmer of Leeds, Baroness Butler-Sloss, Lord Harrison and Baroness O’Neill of Bengarve. Lord Davies of Abersoch will speak on behalf of the Government.
