The House of Lords Journal celebrated a 500-year anniversary recently and the Lord Speaker, Baroness Hayman, opened an exhibition highlighting the history of the publication at the end of January.

The Journal continues to be the official record of proceedings in the House of Lords ever since its first recorded entry on 21 January 1510.

Royal Gallery: exhibition

The exhibition is displayed in the Royal Gallery, House of Lords, and can be viewed by members of the public on organised tours.

The Lord Speaker commented:

“I am delighted to open this fascinating exhibition and hope that many staff and members of the public will have the opportunity to see its exhibits.

"The Journal is testimony to the House of Lords’ commitment to maintain accurate records of proceedings, which are important for many people working both within and outside Parliament.”
