Professor John Beddington, the Government Chief Scientific Adviser, gives evidence to the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee at 11.40 am on science and technology research funding

The Committee is conducting an inquiry into how priorities are set for science and technology research funding. Professor Beddington will be asked about the roles of the Government Chief Scientific Adviser and the Government Office for Science in the process of setting priorities for publicly funded research.
Further questions will also be asked about the role of departmental scientific advisers, and the likely effects of severe funding constraints on research over the next few years.
The Committee also takes evidence at 10.40am from the Royal Society and the Council for Science and Technology.
