The Lord Speaker, Baroness Hayman, opened an exhibition at the Norfolk Record Office on 15 January looking at how people have influenced Parliament and how Parliament has affected local communities.

The exhibition is part of the People and Parliament: Connecting with Communities project which the Lord Speaker opened in July 2009, and partners the Parliamentary Archives with regional archive services in different parts of the country.

The Parliamentary Archives loaned seven items to the Norfolk exhibition, including the first Act of Parliament passed in 1497, and the exhibits will be on display until the end of March 2010.
