Questions to the Government: 20 January
21 January 2010 (updated on 22 April 2010)
During oral questions on 20 January, Members of the House of Lords questioned the Government on the present situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina; climate change and carbon dioxide emissions; the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's budget; and plans for UK banks.
- Lords Hansard: Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Lords Hansard: Climate Change: Carbon Dioxide Emissions
- Lords Hansard: Foreign and Commonwealth Office
- Lords Hansard: Banks
Oral Questions take place at the start of business on Monday to Thursday and last for 30 minutes.
Questions are directed at the Government as a whole - not at specific government departments on set days (as in the Commons). They enable Members of the Lords to:
- check on government activities
- raise issues of concern about government policy, and
- seek information.
Questions are tabled in advance and printed on the Order Paper ( House of Lords Business).
