Now that the Commons has passed the Bill it will be introduced in the Lords and all stages taken on 9 February.
This Bill will reinstate the Government's terrorist asset-freezing regime, after the Supreme Court quashed the Terrorism (United Nations Measures) Order 2006 and provisions in the Al-Qaida and Taliban (United Nations Measures) Order 2006.
The Court found that the Treasury was acting beyond its powers in using the United Nations Act to give effect to United Nations Security Council Resolutions on freezing terrorists' assets. The Bill, which is being put through Parliament using the fast-track procedure, will make the provisions of the two Orders in Council valid again.
