House of Lords on funding cuts to higher education

On 25 February, 23 Members of the House of Lords, including chancellors, vice-chancellors and heads of colleges, contributed to a debate on funding cuts for the further and higher education sectors announced by the Government earlier this month.
Topics discussed included: reviewing the structure and financing of higher education; widening participation in and improving quality of further education; student fees; and UK competitiveness.
In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern.
A minister responds on behalf of the Government.
