Twenty Members of the House of Lords discussed enhancing the means available to the House to scrutinise legislation and public policy on 25 February.

Former ministers and experts in a range of constitutional affairs covered subjects including: the reputation of Parliament; increasing public understanding of the work of the House of Lords; the legislative process and pre and post-legislative scrutiny; select committee work; and online engagement.

In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern.

A minister responds on behalf of the Government.
