Lord Myners, Financial Services Secretary, gives evidence to the House of Lords EU Sub-Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs, and International Trade at 11am as part of the current inquiry into the regulation of derivatives markets.

The Committee will ask Lord Myners about issues such as whether regulation and supervision of derivatives markets should take place at national, EU or global level. The advantages and disadvantages of regulation at an EU level on OTC derivatives markets, and what form regulation should take, will also be discussed.

Lord Myners will also be asked about the use of central party clearing for derivatives contracts, as recent Commission communications suggest incentives and rules to increase their use.
