Lords to debate ways to boost economic growth

The debate will be opened by Lord Sanderson of Bowden (Conservative) who is a company director and former Scotland Office Minister.

He will be joined by Members with wide ranging expertise in economics and business. They include:

• Lord Sugar (Labour), the Government’s Enterprise Champion and founder of the electronics company Amstrad.
• Lord Lang of Monkton (Conservative), a non executive director of several companies and former Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
• Lord Razzall (Liberal Democrat), former chief executive of a City law firm who set up his own business advice company.
• Lord Bhattacharyya (Labour), a leading industrialist who founded the Warwick Manufacturing Group.
• Lord Fowler, former Secretary of State for Employment.
• Lord Hunt of Wirral (Conservative), former Secretary of State for Employment.
• Lord Selsdon (Conservative), former director of international banking at the Midland Bank Group.

Lord Feldman, Baroness Verma, Baroness Byford, Lord Selsdon, Lord Wade of Chorlton and Lord Lyell will also speak in the debate. Lord Davies of Abersoch will speak on behalf of the Government.
