The Commons approved police and local authority government grants for 2010-11. David Hanson, Minister for Policing, Crime and Counter-Terrorism, moved the Police Grant Report (England and Wales), and John Denham, Communities and Local Government Secretary, moved the Local Government Finance Report (England)

The Commons also passed the Draft council tax limitation (Maximum amounts) (England) Order 2010 which limits the 2010 budget of Warwickshire police authority. In November the Government announced that it was capping the police authorities of Cheshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire because of previous excessive increases.

Cheshire and Leicestershire accepted the budget caps, but Warwickshire exercised its right to challenge and, after considering the case, the Government proposed a maximum budget requirement for the latter of £90,395,000.
