During a debate, held the day after the Budget announcement, Members of the House of Lords with expertise in financial, commercial and economic affairs, discussed the current state of the economy on 25 March.

Members covered issues raised by the current economic crisis such as the fiscal deficit; proposals in the Budget for national expenditure and measures for small businesses.

In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern. A minister responds on behalf of the Government.
