Members of the House of Lords contributed to a debate on the significance for society and the economy of policies to provide and support teaching excellence in schools, colleges and universities on 4 March

The wide-ranging discussion covered issues including social mobility, education policy, teaching skills and excellence, and funding for higher education.

In the House of Lords Members may table questions for debate, usually up to two hours and a half, on a specific issue or matter of concern.
