Lords debate: role of culture in the UK

The House of Lords will debate the role of culture as a front-line service, following Liverpool’s year as the European Capital of Culture, on 18 March

The Bishop of Liverpool will open the debate and will be joined by other Members including:

  • Lord Rodgers of Quarry Bank (Liberal Democrat), former Labour Secretary of State for Transport and Hon Fellow at Liverpool John Moore University and Hon LLD at Liverpool University
  • Lord McNally, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and former MP for Stockport
  • Lord Luke, Conservative spokesperson for Culture, Media and Sport
  • Lord Addington, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Culture, Media and Sport
  • Lord Lyell (Conservative)
  • Lord Williams of Elvel (Labour)

Lord Davies of Oldham will speak on behalf of the Government.
