On Monday 29 March, four short debates were held and Members of the House of Lords with relevant expertise covered a wide range of topics: Gulf War veterans; the extension of UK signed treaties to British Overseas Territories; events in Armenia beween 1915 and 1917; the effect of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Questions for short debate - discussions usually lasting from 60 to 90 minutes - can be tabled by any Member of the Lords to ask the Government a question on a topic of interest. A spokesperson replies to the question on behalf of the Government.
