Oral questions
Oral questions provide an opportunity for MPs and Lords to ask Government ministers questions on the floor of each House. These questions are asked at the start of the day's business in both chambers.
Early Day Motions
Early Day Motions (EDMs) are motions submitted for debate in the House of Commons. Although very few EDMs are actually debated, they can demonstrate the extent of parliamentary support for a particular cause or point of view.
