The first result being declared will kick off the projection. It which will feature a "winning line", representing the 326 seats that any party will need to win to be sure of an outright victory.
The BBC projection will be visible from Westminster Bridge and the South Side of the river, directly opposite the Houses of Parliament.
Ahead of the final results being announced, the details of an exit poll will instead be projected onto Big Ben just minutes after the polls close.
This will give election watchers a glimpse into the state of the main parties – and the possible results to come.
The exit poll was conducted by NOP/Mori, and jointly commissioned by ITV News, Sky and BBC and will be beamed onto Big Ben by the BBC.
