Introduction ceremonies to present two new members of the House of Lords took place in the Lords Chamber at the beginning of business on 27 May.

The short ceremonies introduced Lord Hill of Oareford, recently appointed as the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Education, as a Conservative life Peer, and the Bishop of Guildford.

The introduction ceremony must take place in the Lords Chamber before each new Member is able to take their seat in the House. During the ceremony, the new Member confirms their party or group affiliation and takes an oath of allegiance or similar affirmation.
