New Members take their seats in the Lords
1 July 2010
Labour life Peers Baroness Donaghy, Lord Hutton of Furness and Lord Boateng took their seat in the House of Lords following short introduction ceremonies at the beginning of business on Thursday 1 July.
These introductions are the latest to take place among new life Peers whose membership was announced in May.

The introduction ceremony must take place in the Lords Chamber before each new Member is able to take their seat in the House.
During the ceremony, new Members either swear an oath or solemnly affirm their allegiance to the Queen; they also sign an undertaking to abide by the House of Lords Code of Conduct.
