New Members introduced

Labour life Peers Baroness Hayter of Kentish Town and Lord McAvoy were introduced in House of Lords following short introduction ceremonies at the beginning of business on 22 June.
Their introductions are the latest to take place this week among new life Peers whose membership was announced on 28 May.

The introduction ceremony must take place in the Lords Chamber before each new Member is able to take their seat in the House.
During the ceremony, new Members either swear an oath or solemnly affirm their allegiance to the Queen; they also sign an undertaking to abide by the House of Lords Code of Conduct.
