Two new life Peers took their seats in the House of Lords following short introduction ceremonies at the beginning of business on 3 June.

The ceremonies introduced Lord Sassoon, Parliamentary Secretary at the Treasury and Lord Wei, government adviser on the Government's 'Big Society' programme.

The introduction ceremony must take place in the Lords Chamber before each new Member is able to take their seat in the House. During the ceremony, new Members either swear or solemnly affirm their allegiance to the Queen; they also sign an undertaking to abide by the House of Lords Code of Conduct.
